The fire broke out about 2:30 p.m. Friday night as a crew on the ferry’s second heliport jumped out on the water and tried to get out, according to the Port of Oakland.

The port estimated the fire started around 8:45 p.m. on the second heliport’s helipad.

Firefighters fought the blaze for nearly six hours as the blaze spread up the ramp and up the other end of the helipad, which is located in a sheltered area on the water’s edge.

The port said there were six crew members, including two port inspectors and the port’s Chief Fire Officer, on board the ferry at the tim바카라e of the fire. It said no injuries were reported from the blaze.
